Income and Sales Tax Department achieved a growth in its collections since the beginning of this year until the end of last September, where the total collections of the department during this period amounted to about 4 billion dinars, while collections during the same period last year 2020 amounted to about 3.534 billion dinars, and during the same period in 2019 it amounted to about 3.194 billion dinars.

Income and Sales Tax Department clarified that the growth rate of collections during the past nine months of this year amounted to 13% compared to collections in 2020, and the growth rate of collections in 2019 was 25%.

The department indicated that income tax collections increased during the same period to reach about 1.036 billion dinars, while during the same period last year it was 962 million dinars and in 2019 it amounted to 895 million dinars. and for the same period in 2019, it amounted to about 16%.

The department indicated that the department's total collections of the general sales tax during the past nine months of this year amounted to about 2.955 billion dinars, while during the same period last year it amounted to 2.571 billion dinars, and during the same period in 2019 it amounted to 2.298 billion dinars. Thus, the increase during the current year compared to the same period last year is 15%, and for the same period in 2019 it amounted to 28%.

The department said that the growth in collections was a result of the department implementing tax reforms, addressing tax distortions and imbalances, and raising the efficiency of tax collection and auditing in accordance with the best tax practices.

The department indicated that enhancing confidence with taxpayers had a positive impact, especially in the field of settlements and reconciliation with taxpayers who have unresolved issues.
