July 2017-The Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) stated that it would no longer accept payments above 5,000 Dinars, whether in cash, by check, or credit card, as of the second half of this month. Instead, such payments must be made electronically using the E-payment system (efawateercom).
This procedure comes in line with the amended Instructions No. 1 of 2017 on ways of income tax payment and installment, as well as the amended Instructions No. 1 of 2017 on ways of sales tax payment, installment, and deferment issued in the Official Gazette Issue No. 5464 dated June 1, 2017.
The Department calls the taxpayers to use the efawateercom system to pay their taxes and inquire about the taxes due in a convenient, safe, and time-saving manner.
To this end, the ISTD has created an icon on its website to enable the taxpayers to use the efawateercom system and provided links for the authorized banks to enable the taxpayers to pay their tax due via their bank accounts.
It is worth noting that the said instructions require taxpayers to pay any amounts exceeding JD 5,000 in 2017, JD 3,000 in 2018, and JD 1,000 afterwards via the authorized e-payment system of the ISTD or authorized banks.
