Abu Ali: Tax collections increased by 25% in the first third

The income, sales and national contribution tax collections increased during the first third of this year by 25 % over the collections of last year.

 The Director of the Income and Sales Tax Department, Dr. Hussam Abu Ali, said that the total collections during the first third of this year amounted to 1,855 billion dinars, compared to 1,482 billion dinars collected during the same period last year.

 He added that the total collections from sales tax during the first third of this year amounted to 1,243 billion dinars, compared to 968 million dinars collected during the same period in 2020, an increase of 275 million dinars, with a rate of up to 25%.

He indicated that income tax collections during the first third of this year amounted to 612 million dinars, compared to 514 million dinars collected during the same period last year, an increase of 98 million dinars, 19%.

 Abu Ali pointed out that the growth of collections is due to the positive effects of the beginning of economic recovery and the tax reforms that the department is working to implement, including the department’s measures in combating tax evasion, addressing tax avoidance, expanding the tax base, and improving voluntary tax compliance by taxpayers.
