Dr. Hossam Abu Ali announced that the total income and sales tax collections during January of this year amounted to about 528.461 million dinars, compared to about 465.120 million dinars collected during the same month last year, an increase of 63,341 million dinars, while the percentage amounted to about 11%.
He explained that the income and sales tax collections during January of this year amounted to 528.461 million dinars, of which 337.125 million dinars were sales tax collections, which constitute 64% of the total collections. Income tax collections amounted to 191.336 and constitute 36% of the total collections.
While the total income and sales tax collections during the same month last year 2021 amounted to about 465.120 million dinars, of which about 329,261 sales tax collections which constitute 70% of the total collections, and 146.869 million dinars income tax collections, constituting 30% of the total collections.
Abu Ali indicated that the collections last month indicate that the reforms taken by the department and implemented have begun to show their effect by addressing the tax distortions and imbalances that this tax system suffers from, with the direct tax contribution increasing to 36% during January of this year.
