Abu Ali calls for submitting 2023 income returns and registering in the national invoicing system

Dr. Hussam Abu Ali, Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, called on all taxpayers to submit income tax returns for their incomes earned during the fiscal year 2023 electronically and to pay the amounts declared therein via electronic payment methods as soon as possible. He urged them to fill these returns with real and correct data and information that express their real incomes during the past year based on their business activities during the year 2023. Abu Ali indicated that submitting returns electronically is done through the department’s website www.istd.gov.jo for all categories of taxpayers, employees, individuals, companies and development zones, by entering the previous electronic link and choosing the electronic services icon. He explained that a natural person (employees and individuals) is obligated to submit an income tax return if his annual total income from all sources of income or from business activities, including salaries and wages, exceeds 9 thousand dinars for a non-breadwinner and 18 thousand dinars for a breadwinner. Note that deducting income tax from salaries and wages on a monthly basis by the employer does not exempt taxpayers whose annual income exceeds the specified limit for exemptions from submitting income tax returns. On the other hand, the Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department called on financial managers to commit to providing deductions of income tax amounts from salaries and wages of the employees on a monthly basis in proportion to the size of the personal and family exemptions approved by the Income Tax Law, which set the size of the personal and family exemptions at nine thousand dinars for single individual or The non-breadwinner and 18 thousand dinars for the breadwinner. He also called for the necessity of providing monthly salary deductions for any single or non-breadwinner employee whose salary or total monthly income exceeds 750 dinars and for the breadwinner if his salary or total monthly income exceeds 1,500 dinars. On the other hand, Dr. Hussam Abu Ali stressed the need for owners and managers of companies and establishments, as well as individuals obligated to the national electronic invoicing system, to ensure that financial managers, accountants, or their authorized representatives register these companies and establishments and the activity of individuals with the national electronic invoicing system and issue invoices duly through the system or from Through the electronic link to the national electronic billing system. If they have not registered yet, it is necessary to quickly register in the system and reconcile their situation with the requirements of the national electronic invoicing system as quickly as possible to avoid legal accountability and exposure to legal fines.
