Abu Ali calls on companies and establishments to ensure that they transfer the deductions for salaries and wages

27/02/2024

Dr. Hossam Abu Ali, Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, called on managers of companies and owners of establishments and institutions to ensure that financial managers and accountants transferred the full amounts which deducted from the salaries and wages of their employees and workers for the year 2023 to the Income and Sales Tax Department compatible with the issued salary certificate during the current year 2024.

Abu Ali said that any delay in transferring the deductions leads to the imposition a legal fine against companies, institutions or establishments that are late in transferring it and also leads to a delay in disbursing the Tax Refunds for those whom deserve it.

He called on obligated taxpayers to submit income tax declarations for the fiscal year 2023 and pay the amounts declared therein electronically as soon as possible.

He pointed out the necessity of filling these declarations with realistic and correct information that reflects their real incomes from their work during the fiscal year 2023.

He explained that the taxpayer is obligated to submit an income tax declaration if his annual income during the fiscal year 2023 from any source of income exceeds 9 thousand dinars for a single person and 18 thousand dinars for a breadwinner.

He stated that deducting income tax from monthly salaries and wages by the employer does not exempt him from submitting annual income tax declaration.

He also called on retirees whose monthly pension salaries exceed 2,500 dinars to take the initiative to submit an income tax return for the fiscal year 2023.
