Abu Ali in a meeting with the students of UJ Tax reforms contributed to an increase in revenues

Dr. Hossam Abu Ali, Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, said that the efforts made by the department in the field of tax inspection and audit, addressing the gaps in the tax system and raising audit efficiency had a major role in achieving the department's achievements, especially in the field of collection.

During the meeting, which was held at the College of Business at the University of Jordan and attended by a number of faculty members and students, Abu Ali indicated that the reforms adopted by the department in combating tax evasion, addressing tax avoidance and applying international standards in this field had a role in increasing commitment and expanding the base of taxpayers.

He said that the efficiency of the anti-tax evasion measures and their impact was low because the information provided to the department was relied upon. Which led to an increase in collections and an increase in tax liability.

Dr. Hossam Abu Ali, in response to a question by a faculty member at the university, explained that the sales tax in Jordan, if it is assessed according to the principles of imposing it on the consumption base, leads to that whoever consumes more pays more, it achieves relative justice, indicating that the government took into account the middle and limited classes by providing more From 360 goods and services to consumers either exempt from the general sales tax or subject to reduced rates.

On the tax reforms adopted by the government, Dr. Abu Ali said that these reforms include no increase in the taxes currently imposed, nor the imposition of any new taxes, as these reforms focused on combating tax evasion, addressing tax avoidance as well, and applying international practices to raise the efficiency of auditing and collection.

Dr. Abu Ali spoke to the attending students about the importance of arming themselves by increasing their scientific stock before graduation, and being informed of everything related to their specialization and maintaining excellence in study.

He announced that the department, in cooperation with the University of Jordan, will prepare the tax commissioner's program to provide the market and neighboring countries' need for this profession and to prepare the tax expert who is witnessing a great demand from institutions and companies
