For the first time, 100% online tax returns are submitted.

Hossam Abu Ali, Director General of Income and Sales Tax Department, announced that the number of tax returns that were submitted electronically during the month of last January amounted to 56,200 income and sales tax returns, while no return was submitted in a face-to-face manner. Thus, the percentage of filing returns electronically is 100%, which indicates the efficacy of the procedures taken by the department in electronic transformation in the provision of tax services.

Abu Ali explained that the returns submitted by employees during the last month amounted to about 31 thousand returns submitted electronically.

Within the framework of the rapid audit plan for employee returns, the department audited and completed them within a period ranging from 24 hours to 48 hours from their submission and in a manner consistent with the practices that are applied in developed countries.

And everyone who submitted a tax return during the last month senses the speed in auditing the returns of employees through the cell messages that were sent to the owners of these returns after their submission, which indicates the completion of the auditing of the returns.

Regarding the returns submitted by individuals and companies, which numbered about 17,000 , he said, the legal requirements require, after the end of the legally defined tax period, to be subject to the audit sample system in accordance with the provisions of the legislation in force.

And he indicated that the Income and Sales Tax Department is working to motivate the taxpayers to expand access to the department's services electronically, including daily reviews and requests to facilitate on the taxpayers and employees.

Abu Ali called on taxpayers to stop obtaining the services of the department in person and obtaining them electronically without the need to reach or review the offices of the department, especially since the department provided all services through its website.

It is reported that the Income Tax Department “enabled the taxpayers to obtain a password through the department’s website without the need to review it to enable them to deal and obtain the department’s services electronically.

The department also enabled citizens who do not have tax numbers to obtain them through the department's website without the need to visit the department's offices.
