ISTD calls for submitting Income Tax Returns Electronically

Income and Sales Tax Department called on taxpayers to submit income tax returns on their achieved income during 2021 as soon as possible and pay the declared amounts and not to delay the submission of returns until the end of the legal period.

As the department also requested the taxpayers to take into account that these declarations be filled out with factual and correct information that expresses their true and real income that reflects their real business activities during the year 2021.

The department indicated that the declarations are submitted electronically on the department's website www.istd.gov.jo through the electronic services icon, in addition to the necessity of paying the amounts declared in these declarations by means of electronic payment.

The department has also updated the income tax return forms for the fiscal year 2021 and placed them on its website and on the e-government program for all categories of taxpayers, Employee, individuals, companies and development areas through the electronic link www.istd.gov.jo.

The Department clarified that total exemptions for householder of income during year 2021 amount (23) thousands dinars including a personal exemption of (9) thousand dinars and (9) thousand dinars for dependents.

Exempting the family during the year 2021 in exchange for expenses for treatment, education, rent, housing loan interests and Murabaha amounts to five thousand dinars

The law granted a thousand dinars to the taxpayer, a thousand dinars to the spouse of the taxpayer, and a thousand dinars to each child, with a maximum of three children.

The department indicated that the Income Tax Law has arranged a special exemption for each person with a continuing disability in the family at 2,000 dinars for each person, regardless of the number of those who meet the conditions. These are added to personal exemptions, maintenance, medical and education expenses, rent, housing loan interest, and Murabaha guaranteed by law.

With regard to the taxpayer who is not a housholder, the law granted him (9) thousand dinars as a personal exemption, in addition to a thousand dinars in compensation for expenses related to treatment, education, rent, housing loan interest and Murabaha.
