ISTD invites taxpayers to file an income return before the current 30th

ISTD called on obligated taxpayers to submit income tax returns for the fiscal year 2022 and pay the declared amounts electronically before the end of April 30, which is the last legal date for submitting the tax return.

The department indicated the need to take into account the filling of these returns with realistic and correct information that reflects their real income from their work during the fiscal year 2022.

The department explained that the taxpayer is obligated to submit an income tax return in the event that his annual income during the fiscal year 2022 from any source of income from any business activity, including salaries and wages, exceeds 9 thousand dinars for the single and 18 thousand dinars for the breadwinner.

The department asked the taxpayers to attach information related to their economic activities during the past year with the tax return and to submit the income returns to the department before the end of the legal period in order to avoid being subjected to fines stipulated by the law, which include an added tax for not submitting a tax return as well as a fine of 4 per thousand of the value of the tax amounts due for every week delay or any part thereof.

Regarding employees and employees who receive monthly salaries and wages, she confirmed that they are obligated to submit an income tax declaration if the annual total income exceeds 9 thousand dinars for the non-breadwinner and 18 thousand dinars for the breadwinner.

And ISTD indicated that deducting income tax from monthly salaries and wages from the employer does not exempt those whose annual income exceeds the limit set for exemptions from submitting income tax returns annually.

It also called on retirees whose monthly pension salaries exceed 2,500 dinars to take the initiative to submit an income tax return for the fiscal year 2022.

The department confirmed that the delay in submitting the income tax returns beyond the legal date that ends on April 30 will expose the obligated taxpayer to a fine ranging between 100-500 dinars, in addition to being subjected to an initial and administrative assessment.

The department also asked the taxpayers to consider filling out the returns with factual and correct information that reflect their realistic and real incomes that reflect their real business activities during the fiscal year 2022.

The department explained that filing returns and paying balances is done through electronic means, and taxpayers who hold tax numbers and who have not yet subscribed to e-government services can obtain a password to enable them to deal and obtain the department's services electronically without visiting the department, by entering the website and selecting the services icon. Then choose a new user address where the taxpayer can enter the user name that represents the tax number and complete the rest of the steps to obtain the password that enables him to submit the return electronically and obtain all the services provided by the department electronically.
