Income and Sales Tax Department signs a memorandum of understanding with Jadara University

The Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, Dr. Hussam Abu Ali, and the President of Jadara University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Taleb Obaidat, signed a memorandum of understanding at the Fairmont Amman Hotel for joint academic cooperation and coordination between the Jordanian Tax Institute and Jadara University, which included academic training and teaching fields, in order to activate the partnership between academic institutions and the advancement of the profession of expert and representative Tax.

The Director General indicated that this agreement came to enable and upgrade the profession of the tax expert and the process of organizing this profession and to develop the requirements for developing the tax work for income and sales taxes by increasing the capabilities and skills of the trainees and learners from both parties, in order to raise the level of the tax audit process and increase its effectiveness to achieve the desired goals for the development of this profession.

He indicated that this agreement will be immediately implemented through developing study plans for university graduates, as well as holding intensive training programs for them based on the exploitation of the existence of tax and customs specializations at the university to qualify and provide qualified and trained cadres to work in the future.

 

While Abu Ali indicated that the plan to develop the Income and Sales Tax Department depends mainly on developing the capabilities, knowledge and skills of working tax cadres, which can only be optimally developed through a participatory relationship, cooperation and coordination with specialized academic institutions to serve students and workers.

The Director General praised the role of the University of Jadara in adopting and launching new majors that are required to enable its graduates to enter the labor market through rare specializations that open the way for them to enter the arena of life.

 

Abu Ali valued the university’s role in the northern region, which will have an important national and economic role in this field, so that it will be a strategic partner with the department to cooperate in the future to meet the market’s requirements and its need for this specialization, which will meet students ’turnout to escape from stagnant specialties.

 

Obeidat emphasized that the launch of this agreement came due to the future need of university students to work in the customs and tax fields, which allows university graduates to possess skills and to match the inputs needed by the labor market that keep pace with the royal aspirations, especially the required specialties.

 

He pointed out that this agreement came in accordance with the university's aspirations to merge the specialty of customs sciences with income and sales tax and convert it into customs and tax sciences that allow graduates to train in the Income Tax Department to benefit from the experiences of workers in this sector, hoping that the terms of this agreement will be applied on the ground. Reality, adding that we are on the verge of the second centenary of the Jordanian state, which, through the Hashemites, wrote the finest examples of building the modern Jordanian state.

Obeidat pointed to the aspirations of various governmental and private state institutions to complete the march and contribute to being part of this interactive system, praising the role of the Income and Sales Tax Department as real partners in this field.

 

The terms of the agreement stipulated the establishment of inter-relationships aimed at developing cooperation in the academic, research, training, administrative, and community service fields on the basis of exchanging experience and knowledge in a way that achieves mutual benefit between the two parties. The agreement also included the necessary organization to issue a tax representative profession in accordance with the scientific and professional framework and requirements for the profession of representative Tax.

The agreement also stipulated the need for cooperation in the field of teaching and training, each according to his specializations and available academic capabilities in accordance with the plans agreed upon between the two parties, and to provide the necessary facilities for the visiting delegations of trainers and experts to see the experience of each part in the various fields related to tax work and any other fields concerned with the development of work for both parties. ‌

 

While it was agreed to hold joint conferences, workshops and seminars for researchers from the income tax department, faculty members and students at the university, to provide assistance and advice in the field of equipping the tax sciences department’s laboratories with special computer systems and granting tax representation licenses after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in customs and tax science, provided that the two parties, through cooperation between the tax institute in the department and the College of Business, Department of Customs Sciences at Jadara University, hold training programs and define the scientific material for granting tax representation licenses.

 

The memorandum of understanding included the exchange of experiences with the participation of current and former employees of the department in giving courses and training programs at Jadara University and the participation of the faculty at the university in giving courses and training programs at the department in the field of tax representation and any other special programs, cooperation and coordination and participation in the preparation and implementation of scientific conferences in The tax field  and specialized seminars in the same field, cooperation and coordination, conducting specialized research in the field of tax and publishing it in the scientific journal of the university and providing scientific publishing service.

 

 

The terms of the agreement stipulated that the university is committed to granting a 50% discount to the children of employees and retirees of the department when they choose the university to study in it in Business college.

 

In turn, the head of the customs sciences department at the university, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Tahrawi, who coordinated and organized this agreement with the tax institute and administration of the department, confirmed that this agreement came to develop the national economy by introducing graduates who are compatible with the labor market so that they can penetrate the local and international market. The signing of the agreement was attended by the assistants of director General and assistants and vice-presidents of Jadara University.
