22/05/2022

Hossam Abu Ali, Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, announced that the total income and sales tax collections from the beginning of this year until the end of last April amounted to about 2,080 billion dinars, compared to about 1.855 billion dinars collected during the same period last year, an increase of 225 million dinars. The rate of increase was about 12%.

Abu Ali explained that the income tax collections during the first third of this year amounted to 786 million dinars, compared to a total of 612 collected during the same period last year, an increase of 174 million dinars, representing an increase of 28% in income tax collections.

Abu Ali indicated that the increase in collections indicates the emergence of the impact of the reforms taken by the department, which worked to address tax distortions and imbalances, combat tax evasion and address tax avoidance through the increase in the contribution of direct tax during the current year and for the voluntary commitment of taxpayers.

The Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, Dr. Hossam Abu Ali, thanked the taxpayers who are committed to submitting tax returns and paying the tax due on them on time to avoid fines, and urged taxpayers who have not yet submitted their returns to quickly submit and pay the tax due on them to avoid further legal fines. ‎
