Today, sponsored by Dr. Hussam Abu Ali, Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, the Higher Diploma in Taxation Program was launched in cooperation between the German Jordanian University and the Income and Sales Tax Department. This program is considered an important achievement for Jordan and the region because it provides a unique opportunity for professionals and specialists in the field of taxes to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in this important field. Dr. Hussam Abu Ali, Director General of Income and Sales Tax, stressed the importance of the Higher Diploma in Taxation program to meet the requirements of the local market and the region and provide it with specialists in the field of taxation, as well as contributing to the organization and development of the profession of representatives, advisors and tax commissioners, and providing tax experts and advisors to companies so that they can implement tax legislation and avoid falling In violations and fines, the program will contribute to enabling participants to study international practices in the tax systems and the tax systems in Arab countries. Abu Ali added that this cooperation between the German Jordanian University and the Income and Sales Tax Department embodies a firm commitment to providing high-quality higher education and distinguished professional development opportunities in the field of taxes. It is expected that the Higher Diploma in Taxation program will become a cornerstone for training skilled tax competencies that will contribute to advancing economic growth and development in Jordan and the region. He said that this program will play a role in qualifying and preparing tax experts and consultants professionally and technically to carry out specialized tax audit work in accordance with applicable tax legislation and procedures. From his part, Dr. Alaa Al-Halhouli, President of the German Jordanian University, stressed the importance of this program, which is considered a step towards enhancing higher education, promoting a culture of excellence and development in accordance with best practices, and enhancing the strategic planning approach and quality of education. Dr. Al-Halhouli added that the university is moving forward to implement His Majesty the King’s vision, by preparing a generation of outstanding and creative people capable of keeping up with the requirements of the future efficiently and competently, to be a solid pillar in the nation’s edifice and an essential tributary to its elevation and glory. He thanked ISTD and USAID and the PFMA and all parties and people for the support that was provided for this program. From her side, Mrs. Ruba Abu Hussein, the project management in charge in the USAID, said that building strong professional capacities in taxation is considered a fundamental pillar for achieving a good fiscal management and transparency in Jordan and the region as a whole; since the professional staff who have good knowledge of tax system forms a main support for guaranteeing the efficiency of tax collection and enhancing tax compliance. And this program aims into equipping participants with the necessary tools and skills for an efficient tax management which will help into building a stronger fiscal system. She added that the high diploma program in taxation provides a unique opportunity for individuals working in the public and private sectors for improving their tax skills and enrich their experiences in this domain which will contribute into enhancing the efficiency of tax collection and improves the tax compliance level that reflects positively on both the government and taxpayers at the same time. By providing specialized education in the taxation field, this program will contribute in enhancing participants’ deep understandings of the Jordanian tax regulations and laws. This will not only enable tax specialists to perform their tasks with high efficiency, but encourages raising tax awareness between the citizens and companies which will enhance tax compliance largely. It pointed that the partnership between Jordan German University and the Income & Sales Tax Department makes a successful model for the partnership between the public and private sectors which USAID encourages and supports the most. This partnership benefits from both institutions which guarantee that the program will be distinguished academically and is attached tightly with the reality. Improving the tax efficiency is a long term investment in the future of Jordan. The professional tax staff may contribute in enhancing the good fiscal management which will lead to building a more sustainable and investor attractive economy so that the Jordanian people will benefit from sustainable economic growth and increased prosperity.
