The Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) invites taxpayers to submit income declaration

The Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) invites taxpayers to submit income declaration for the year 2023, pay the amounts declared in these declaration electronically, and ensure registration in the national billing system.

The (ISTD) called on all taxpayers to submit income tax declaration for their incomes during the fiscal year 2023 electronically and to pay the amounts declared therein via electronic payment methods.

The (ISTD) stressed the necessity of filling out the declaration with correct and realistic information that reflects their incomes during the past year 2023.

Note that submitting declarations is done electronically through the department’s website www.istd.gov.jo for all categories of taxpayers, employees, individuals, companies and development zone, by entering the department’s website and choosing the electronic services icon.

It indicated that a natural person in the category of employees is obligated to submit an income tax declaration if his annual total income from all sources of income or from business activities, including salaries and wages, exceeds 9 thousand dinars for a non-breadwinner and 18 thousand dinars for a breadwinner.

The Income and Sales Tax Department clarified that deducting income tax from salaries and wages monthly by the employer does not exempt those whose annual incomes exceed the exemption limit from submitting income tax declaration.

The (ISTD) stressed to the owners and managers of companies and establishments, as well as individuals obligated to register with the national electronic billing system, the necessity of ensuring that financial managers, accountants, or their authorized representatives to register these companies and establishments and the activity of individuals with the national electronic billing system, and issue the bills  duly through the system or through Electronic connection to the national electronic billing system.

If they have not yet registered with the national electronic billing system, it is necessary to ensure that they quickly register in the system and reconcile their situation with the system as quickly as possible to avoid legal accountability and exposure to legal fines.

The Income and Sales Tax Department indicated that submitting declarations and registering with the national electronic billing system done electronically through the department’s website www.istd.gov.jo.

 

The Department indicated that taxpayers can communicate with the Taxpayer Services Center (TSC) via phone, WhatsApp application, or various social media sites to receive the required assistance, answer their inquiries and comments, assist them in conducting their transactions procedures electronically, and respond to them in the shortest possible time.
